Spiritual Growth Groups

(C) 2003, Don Mize

Becoming--Caring Christian Solutions was founded 20 years ago this year.  Therefore, it seems appropriate that our new emphasis is a culmination of twenty years of work

My original reason for founding Becoming was to deal with the mystery of unhappy, unfulfilled Christians.  Although Jesus promised abundant life, most people in the church seemed not grow in Christ.  Old behaviors and thought patterns never were replaced.  Others tried to grow spiritually but remained unhappy.  Of course I was familiar with the various "magic" promises made by some preachers and churches, most of which would not bear any sort of close inspection.

Over the past twenty years much has been refined. At this point in my ministry, I feel my capacity to help people is greater than ever before.  Most of my work has been done in private sessions, b>.  Thus, 2003 marks an emphasis on forming Spiritual Growth Groups in addition to private sessions with individuals or families.

The approach involves taking an idea from the Bible and applying it to specific situations.  No one is required to reveal intimate details, but by leading members to focus on application, by discussing application to specific life situations, and by having a number of sessions in which discussion and feedback can take place, behaviors, thought patterns, and attitudes will change.

Each group will meet several weeks, focusing on a specific core area.  By leaving the weekly meeting to apply the ideas to a specific situation, and by coming back to discuss and give feedback, change occurs.  The dynamic of the method has been proven successful over a number of years.

See the enrollment form at Spiritual Growth Groups  for a more complete list of groups.

Please feel free to copy and distribute the forms.  Most of our clients come from personal contacts.

People who are interested in the Christian faith and who do not have a church home will also be comfortable in these groups.  The approach is low key and respects the thoughts and feelings of each person.  Many people find our program a good way to explore applying spiritual principles. At one time I thought of titling the program "How to grow spiritually in spite of organized religion."  If you are a friend have had a bad experience with organized religion, this may be the spiritual pick-me-up you need.
