The Adult Bible Study at 4 p.m. on Sunday formed. We are studying Galatians together.  You are welcome.  We meet in my home at 600 North 7th Street, Crockett, Texas.

I know you will join me in praying for peace in the world and for improved moral conditions at home.  The accounting problems continue to plague the stock market and corporations.  A lie is still a lie, and stealing is still stealing, no matter the educational background, the technical language, and the expensive clothing of the person carrying out the act.

Some day we are going to have to face the relative harm caused by a black teenager holding up a convenience store over against the harm caused by well educated and affluent people who destroy lives and jobs.  There is something wrong when the teenager is thrown in jail for years while the affluent do a little time at a federal country club laughingly called prison.

Yes, the market will take care of it.  The corporations will fail.  But, what about the individuals who take excessive profits out of the failing corporations and continue an affluent lifestyle?

Most of us have forgotten that the origin of big government occurred in the early 20th century when nothing existed to place any restrictions on the practices of Big Business of that day.  I wish we could trust everyone to do the right thing, but are again facing the fact that we can't.

Anyway, we need to pray for all our leaders and for the leaders of business and labor.  Apart from a genuine spiritual awaking in our country, I'm afraid we will never be able to pass enough laws and have enough intrusive government to overcome people who want to steal, lie, and cheat.  Even scientific studies are often shown to have been less than objective for either financial reasons or reasons of career advancement.

Galatians, by the way, deals with the basic issues of religious experience, freedom, responsibility, and the new creation in Christ.  Galatians also deals with the limits of Law and why Law is not the ultimate answer the the problems of human morality.  You might want to read it if you haven't lately.

This started out to be a brief update until I could get back to doing more serious work on the web page.  Guess I'm worked up about stuff.

Let's do pray for God to reveal himself to individuals who will in that relationship want to do the right thing.  With God's guidance, that can make a real difference in the kind of society we create.
